About Me

Now don’t be scared, but I’m one of the twigs in your family tree. I sit fairly high up on the branches, almost hidden by the leaves. I come to speak for all of us, the ancestors who have gone before you, who have hoped for you, dreamed of you, imagined you, prayed for you. If you join me, you will meet some of them.

How do you draw a self-portrait? I am a writer, an artist, a reader, a traveler, a scuba diver, a seeker of wisdom, filled with “satiable curiosity” about the world around me. I’m also a worrier. I have been afraid, angry, lonely. I have experienced a grief so deep that I had to reach to feel it. I have made messes I couldn’t clean up. I’ve gone hungry, I’ve had sleepless nights, I have ruminated about past hurts and future dangers. I’ve worked a 24-hour shift. I have been to Jacob’s Well and the Tongue of the Ocean. I have walked and walked and walked. And Oh, how I have prayed! I pray for each of you by name. And I have seen the goodness of God in the land of the living.

This is my story, at least to the extent that I can remember and understand it. I hope to understand it better as I write. Please subscribe, because this isn’t just my story, It’s part of your story, too. And perhaps you will come to understand your own story a bit better as you read.
